Nursing Home Outbreak Leads To Concerns Of Preventive Care

A recent outbreak at a nursing home has perplexed administrators at a medical center. Lab test results were negative for the Norovirus, although symptoms were similar. Patients suffered from nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal cramping. At least 12 patients experienced at least 2 of the symptoms lasting 12-60 hours. 

Health department officials are working to determine the cause of the outbreak out of concern for other nursing home patients. while seeking preventive care options. “Preventing the spread of any illness is critical when dealing with high-risk elderly patients so we closely monitor our residents’ health status,” said the VP of for population health.
