Nursing Home Owner Found Guilty Of Stealing Patient's Savings

A nursing home owner has pleaded guilty to stealing $149,000 from a patient. The money made up the patient’s life savings. Through a plea deal, the former nursing home owner will not serve jail time, but will be responsible to pay back $139,420.56 of the total funds that were stolen as are restitution.

The owner talked the patient into allowing the owner to be his power of wattorney and then used the funds to cover business expenses. The nursing home owner avoided a third-degree theft charges, as well as income tax-related charges due to the plea deal. For more, read the story.
