Nursing home owners are facing felony charges for wage theft from employees at 14 different facilities. The nursing homes are owned by one large corporation. The caregivers were not being paid minimum wage or overtime. The district attorney’s office and department of labor investigated the issue and found evidence of the theft.
In addition the charges include tax and insurance violations. The district attorney had this to say, “Businesses should not profit by stealing from their hard-working employees. When a corrupt business owner commits wage theft, he or she almost invariably commits tax and insurance fraud. We cannot allow these unscrupulous businesses to gain an unfair advantage over law-abiding businesses.” For more, read the story.
