Patients in nursing homes at risk for bed sores or pressure ulcers should be provided with proactive care to prevent pressure ulcers and bed sores. The treatment involves consistent and frequent turning and repositioning to shift weight to different areas of the patient’s body. When this does not occur a pressure ulcer can develop and deteriorate quickly.
If a patient develops a pressure ulcer, the sore should be treated properly. Unfortunately, a patient was allowed to develop a pressure ulcer without receiving proper care.
