Nursing Home Patient Death Leaves Questions For Family

A nursing home is under scrutiny for the death of a patient after conflicting reports emerged. The nursing home did not properly file paperwork in a timely manner. The administrator said she was not made aware until days after. The nurse responsible for the initial report said it slipped her mind.

The family was alerted by the funeral director as to the nature of the choking death and the need to report it within 48 hours to a medical examiner for an investigation due to the incident. An autopsy report states the details of a choking death saying that the patient choked on egg drop soup. The patient suffered from dementia and was a “do not resuscitate”. The family is now looking into the lack of protocol followed with their loved one’s death with potential for a wrongful death suit. For more, read the story
