A nursing home patient is dead just weeks after a fall. She incurred several injuries due to her fall including cracked ribs and a fractured sternum. Just two weeks later, she suffered chest pains and was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital
She was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism to which her doctor stated she had an increased risk to contract the embolism due to her immobilization after the fall. The coroner decided her death was due to the fall incident. For more, read the story.
