Nursing Home Patient Dies After Workers Fail To Respond

A nursing home patient has died and three nursing home workers have been arrested.  The patient had a ventilator alarm go off for more than 9 minutes. The ventilator upon which the patient relied disconnected cutting off the ability to breath. 

The nursing home workers were required by law to respond although they did not. Nurses sometimes block out or become immune to alarms in nursing facilities. However, it is still necessary to respond, because a patient's life could depend on it. For more, read the story
