A nursing home has been fined $100,000 for the death of a patient in its care. The patient died of a head injury on the last of numerous falls at the facility. The facility failed to follow proper fall protocol with the patient and allowed him to be left alone during the time each fall occurred.
“Based on the interview and record review, the Department determined that the facility failed to provide its residents with the necessary care and services to attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being,” according to a state's investigator's report.
