Several nursing home employees have been charged with neglect of a patient after the patient died from bed sores. The patient had strict orders for daily wound care ordered by a physician. The facility staff failed to follow the orders for 5 days. The orders involved wound care and repositioning to remove pressure from the wounds. The patient had multiple wounds including a Stage IV wound to his coccyx. The nursing home staff then falsified records in an attempt to cover up the lack of treatment. Some of the falsified charting of care the patient never received included dates the patient was not even in the facility, but was at the hospital. For more, read the story.
