A nursing home patient suffered severe burns and died due to an incident at a nursing home facility. The patient suffered from Alzheimer's and was known for wandering. The patient wandered into the laundry facility where she fell into a basin of 155-degree scalding hot water.
She was lying in the water on her back while calling for help when she was found. The state department of health cited the facility for lack of safety in keeping the laundry room accessible to patients. The family also questioned the facility's ability to care for her just a week before the incident. “The facility assured her the resident was still appropriate to live there and she would be safe,” said a loved one of the deceased patient.
