Family members of a loved one that died from negligent care in a nursing home have emotionally struggled to look back on his treatment and care, realizing he was being mistreated. The nursing home patient experienced falls and pressure ulcers, became bedridden, and suffered from pneumonia. By the time the patient was sent to the hospital, the pressure ulcer was so deep, it was beyond healing.
“At the base of his spine. That whole part was gone”, said the patient's daughter, who still cries at the thought of the fetid bedsore. “That body part was gone. And it was like, there was white in there. It was gangrenous.” She also said in an interview, “My father was precious to me. I trusted them to take care of him and they didn’t. And he suffered because of them.” For more, read the story.
