Nursing Home Patient Discharged Prematurely, Dies 4 Days Later

A lawsuit has been filed against a nursing home for allowing a patient to be prematurely discharged. The patient was brought to a hotel with some food items, medication and a CPAP machine. He was told he could stay for 30 days. The patient died 4 days later. He was unsupervised for the duration of the four days. 

The patient upon admission suffered from “seizure disorder and multiple complex medical problems, including bi-polar disorder, chronic pain, anxiety, blindness and encephalopathy due to hypertension and [chronic obstructive pulmonary disease].” He was also unable to administer his own medications upon admission.
