A nursing home patient died in a nursing home facility, but the family went untold. The deceased patient's son went to visit his father as he routinely did, however, he arrived to visit his father in a deceased state. “I went in one morning opened the door and I knew as soon as I opened the door he was no longer with us,” said the patient's son. “He was pale, white, I went over and touched his hand like I do every morning and he was cold.”
When the patient's son went to notify a nurse, they said they were already aware, but failed to notify the family. The son filed a complaint with the state as a result. Although the patient can not be brought back to life, the family desires that staff be properly trained to avoid similar incidents and pain for other families in the future.
