Nursing Home Patient Overdoses On Heroine, Nursing Home Fined $100,000

A nursing home patient has died after overdosing on heroine. In response to the use of heroine by patients, the nursing home has been fined $100,000. Negligence was shown in the death of the patient when nursing home staff knew that the patient was seeking out drugs from a visitor and did not report the issue. Four other patients overdosed on heroine and were hospitalized.

Ultimately, other patients in the nursing home facility alerted staff to the occurrence of drug use in the facility. Staff then called police who investigated and confiscated drug paraphernalia. For more, read the story.
