The family member of a loved one has filed a lawsuit against a nursing home for wrongful death due to negligence of care. The patient was allowed to wander from the nursing home where she resided and her absence was not discovered until the following morning. The nursing home failed to notice she was missing all through the night.
The patient froze to death before she was found by a search party the following day 2/10 of a mile away outside a private residence. “She actually fell off the porch and was in the yard,” said the county coroner. “She was not wearing a coat and with it being 6 degrees that morning and with her age and the temperatures it would only take a few minutes for her to freeze.” For more, read the story.
