A nursing home has been blamed for a patient's death by the state health department. The nursing home “failed to provide adequate supervision when the resident’s foot rested on a heater and was burned”. Within weeks the patient's burn worsened, her health declined, and she died. The state did not name the patient, but the family of the patient came forward and validated the incident and negligence.
“The resident’s primary physician … stated she did not receive notifications of the changes in the burn size and condition,” the report read. “Had the physician been notified, the physician would have observed the burn, made changes to the treatments, and prescribed an antibiotic for the infection of the burn that developed.” For more, read the story.
