A group of nursing home patients chose to use their Bingo winnings to buy school supplies for children in need rather than buying snacks for themselves with the “bucks” they earned. The group was able to purchase school supplies for 20 children and fill their backpacks. Patients believe it is a way to give back to the community that reaches out to them.
“It gets them off to school with a better start than they had because they start with nothing,” said the parent liaison to the school. “That’s just hard. So just to know they have a backpack is wonderful.” For more, read the story.
