Nursing Home Rape Victim Receives Justice 17 Years Later

A nursing home rape victim will finally receive justice after 17 years of waiting. An incident that occurred in 2000 has remained an open case while detectives waited for a DNA match. “This was not going to be a case where the victim was going to be able to assist us in any way. It was truly one of the most vulnerable victims that you're ever going to have in a criminal case,” said the county prosecutor.

A former nursing home employee arrested for theft made the DNA match 17 years later. He was indicted for the rape case without hesitation to prosecute. Unfortunately, the victim died in 2011 without knowing justice for the rape she experienced. For more, read the story
