Nursing Home Receives Highest Citation And Fine Of $100,000

A nursing home received the highest citation with a fine of $100,000. The citation involved a dialysis patient who was sent home from the hospital after surgery to be monitored. The nursing home failed to monitor the patient throughout the night after surgery and the patient was found dead the next morning. The state department of health performed an unannounced survey to investigate after receiving a call about a patient who died after surgery.

“Based on observation, interview and record review, the department determined that the facility failed to provided (the patient) with the necessary care and services to attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental and psychosocial well-being, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment and plan of care to meet the needs of the resident,” the report said.
