Nursing Home Records Order To State Agency For Abuse Investigation

A court ordered a nursing home facility to produce records to a state protection and advocacy service looking into the care of some patients. The agency was in search of the documents to verify if patients were experiencing abuse and neglect. The nursing home would not produce the records, prompting a lawsuit to retrieve them.

The future will reveal if any further court involvement will be required as the agency moves forward with its investigation. The agency is reviewing records for 10 patients suspected of abuse, including pressure ulcers, failure to develop care plans, and failure to provide appropriate social services, among other issues.
