Nursing Home Required To Report Family Notification Of Incidents

Nursing homes in one area are required by local legislation to submit reports regarding incidents with patients to ensure family members were notified within two hours of occurrence. The legislation was enacted after a patient was killed in a patient altercation and the family was not notified for hours after the incident occurred. The legislation is in place to ensure nursing homes are in compliance with the law to inform family members. 

According to the area social services commissioner, “Families depend on quality care and need immediate notifications if something happens that involves a relative, which is why it is imperative that all of the nursing homes in [the county] submit their reports in a timely fashion.” For more, read the story
