Nursing Home Resident Killed by Train After Elopement

The son of a 71-year-old nursing home resident who was struck and killed by a train earlier this year, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the nursing home On the morning of March 18, 2010 the woman left the facility, walked to the train tracks and sat down on the tracks.. Police said the train conductor could not stop fast enough to avoid hitting her.

The woman did not initially die from her injuries. She was airlifted by helicopter to a local hospital where she died later that day.The lawsuit alleges the nursing home failed to provide a safe environment and proper care to the woman. For more, read the story.
