An elder abuse task force met recently to identify opportunities for diagnosing scabies properly and to hold nursing home facilities accountable to do so. Scabies has been a growing problem that is going undiagnosed in nursing home patients. Scabies outbreaks in nursing homes are leading to infection and sometimes death in patients.
Several lawsuits have been filed against nursing homes because of negligence in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Wrongful death is a claim for those patients that have died from infection caused by scabies. For more, read the story.
