Nursing Home Settles For $1.25 Million

 A lawsuit was filed against a nursing home that allowed patients to suffer pressure ulcers, falls, dehydration and malnutrition, among other physical, mental and emotional harms. In addition, the nursing home made claims to Medicare and Medicaid of unnecessary and unhelpful services offered to patients. Yet, the facility failed to offer basic care related to food, heating and air conditioning, and cleaning.

“Residents of nursing homes are some of our most vulnerable citizens,” the Acting Assistant Attorney General, head of the Justice Department’s Civil Division, said in a news release. “Nursing home operators who bill Medicare and Medicaid for providing their residents with grossly deficient services will be held accountable.” For more, read the story.
