Nursing homes in one state may not have proper accountability for staffing levels. Auditors determined that not all nursing homes out of compliance with the standard requirement of hours of care per patient were cited for the violations. Nursing homes are to be held accountable for staffing inadequacies based on the regulatory standard.
“In some cases, we also found that when (the department) completed its staffing reviews, insufficient documentation was obtained to support the analysis, leaving us guessing as to how the facility complied with [the state's] mandated regulatory staffing requirement,” auditors wrote.
