Nursing Home Union Workers Go On Strike Due To Understaffing Of Facility

Union workers at a nursing home facility went on strike for two weeks to protest understaffing and mismanagement of the nursing home. The nursing home workers say the owner is pushing them to work double shifts and spending less on staffing to save money for profits. The facility had to hire temporary workers during the strike.

“This facility is making profits at three times the statewide average,” said a union representative. “Since he’s taken over, the turnover rate in staffing has gone from 31 percent to 61 percent.” The same facility has received more than a dozen lawsuits due to unfair labor practices.
