Nursing Home Veteran Comes Home For Holidays

A veteran and nursing home patient was able to come home for the holidays after volunteers built a ramp for his house. The nursing home required the ramp and the commercial cost would have been $4,000- $5,000. However, the volunteers were able to build the ramp for $500 at no cost to the veteran. 

“He had been sick after a heart attack and stroke and had been receiving rehab and nursing care,” said a volunteer. “But his benefits were running out and the nursing facility said that before they could release him, he needed a ramp built on his home. The problem was that most of his benefits were exhausted and he was not able to afford the ramp.” For more, read the story
