Nursing Home Veterans Raise Money for a Falgpole At Facility

A flagpole is being erected at one nursing home thanks to the efforts of two World War II veterans who are residents of the home. The two men said they could not believe there was no American flag flying outside the building. “I think it’s important for a place that has 28 veterans living in it to have a flag,” said one of the residents.

The two men started raising funds for the flag pole. They have solicited various service organizations, including local AmVets, VFWs, Disabled American Veterans, and Marine Corps. With all of the donations that have come in they are close to having the $1,500 needed to purchase the flagpole. They pair hopes to have the flagpole up this fall, but they will be happy as long as it is up in time for next memorial day. For more, read the story.
