Nursing Home Wrongful Death Lawsuit Ends In $5 Million Award By Jury

A nursing home wrongful death lawsuit ended with a jury trial and award of $5 million to the family of a patient who died in their care. The family was awarded $500,000 in damages for wrongful death, $57,000 for negligence and  $5 million in punitive damages by the jury. The patient declined within six months of admission from loss of weight, bed sores, infection, including a urinary tract infection.

Two other patients were allowed to die at the same facility. This was the first of the three cases to be tried, resulting in favor of the plaintiff. For more, read the story.
