Nursing Homes Create Emergency Plans As New Legislative Mandate

New legislation has been passed since nursing home patients died after a hurricane took the power from the building and left patients in a facility with high temperatures and now air conditioning. The new laws require nursing homes to have emergency plans in place to ensure that there is a plan of action in the wake of emergency situations such as the time following a hurricane.  

The nursing home facility that allow patients to die in the wake of the hurricane has since closed its doors, but still provided an emergency plan. Upon review the plan revealed spelling errors and clearly copied material in it. Committees receiving the plans are adding part time help in order to assess the plans coming in for quality.  For more, read the story
