Nursing Homes May Be Required To Increase Staff Training On Dementia Care

Increased care requirement may come into play in one state. With a bill underway by lobbyists for Alzheimer’s patients, nursing homes may be expected to improve staff training. The bill would require nursing home staff to be trained and perform tasks revealing they can put what they learned into practice. 

The bill is receiving opposition due to concerns over ability to admit dementia patients if facilities have not completed the proper training. However, lobbyists say training is already required, so putting it into practice should not be a great increase in training on behalf of the facility. The hope is however, that the impact on care for dementia patients would increase exponentially. For more, read the story
