Nursing Homes Placed On Red Flag List

Nursing homes in one state have scored poorly on state regulations. In this state, 68 nursing homes received 10 or more health and safety deficiencies. Ten or more deficiencies places a nursing home on a “red flag” list. The nursing homes are supposed to form a plan of correction to fix the deficiencies, however, it does not always happen as it should.

“If the facility is cited for things that are related to sanitation or infection control that’s going to affect all the residents in that facility,” said an advocate for better care. “Often times what administrators will say is ‘Oh that’s been taken care of,’ but ask to see the correction plan and ask to know what steps the facility has taken and will take in the future to address those things,” she also stated.
