One Nursing Home Has Reported Over 50 Cases of Unidentified Gastrointestinal Illness

A nursing home reported this week that at least 50 residents and staff members at a the facility are sick with a gastrointestinal illness. County health officials say the first illness of a resident was reported a week ago. Since then, dozens of other residents and caregivers have become ill.

Officials from the health department are still working on a diagnosis and are waiting for lab results to find out exactly what the illness is. Meanwhile, the facility is restricting visitors and limiting staff to prevent the illness from spreading. The residents are being quarantined in their rooms and the facility says it is doing what it can to prevent additional spreading within the facility. For more, read the story.
