Certified Nursing Assistant walked in to 85-year old patient’s room and found her lying on the floor. Instead of seeking help, the CNA placed the patient in bed, “returned to the room later, and acted as if she just discovered her injured.” The patient’s daughter had previously raised concerns about her mother’s care because the nursing home did not have enough staff to adequately care for all the patients.
The patient was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead the same day. When questioned by authorities, the CNA first told them another resident caused the injuries. The nursing home fired the employee who is now charged with manslaughter. For more on this story, read here.
