Police Investigate Nursing Home After Resident Hospitalized With Severe Pressure Ulcers

Police and officials from the Department of Children and Families have begun investigating a health and rehab center after accusations of elder neglect surfaced. The investigation was prompted by the hospitalization of a resident at the facility. Nurses at the hospital contacted police to report that an elderly man had arrived with severe pressure ulcers (also knows as bed sores, pressure sores, decubitus sores, and decubitus ulcers).

Police said the man’s daughter had been having problems with the facility for months and she’d noticed other signs of neglect. In addition to the pressure ulcers, the man had sores in his mouth because his dentures were not being removed. The neglect investigation is ongoing. For more, read the story.
