Poor Quality Care Leads To Closing Of Nursing Home Facility

A nursing home has closed after receiving ten violations for poor quality care of patients. The nursing home facility received a rating of “inadequate”, the lowest possible rank in the system. Patients suffered various forms of abuse and neglect.  “One person was fed an inappropriate diet for some of their meals which increased their risk of a choking episode and one person went for an 18-hour period without anything to eat and drink.

The facility also hired nursing staff with criminal records and requests for help by patients went unanswered. Patients were noted to have unexplained bruising and involved in a hoist as a “potentially criminal restraint”.  When asked,  the manager “confirmed no investigation had taken place and no referrals made to the person’s GP and social worker for further investigation.” For more, read the story
