Preschoolers And Elderly Share Nursing Home Space

In one exceptional facility there is a nursing home that serves the elderly, and a preschool that serves the youth. The nursing home is serving two purposes for two different groups. The preschool teaches the young to accept people of all ages while at the same time serving as a regular preschool. The preschoolers perform normal activities for preschoolers, except inserted into their daily routine is a time to interact with the elderly in the nursing home. It has been discovered that this interaction between young and old helps benefit both the children and the elderly.

Being around the elderly and caring for them it improves the children’s social skills later in life and acceptance of people. The elderly are allowed the chance to have the young children for interaction and are greatly affected in positive ways. Often the elderly in nursing homes become lonely either from having their spouse pass away or their own grown children being too busy or far away to be involved with them. Having little children around brings love and joy back into their lives and makes them feel a part of the community. For more, read the story.
