Retired Judge's Wrongful Death Lawsuit Settles Day Before Trial

A wrongful death lawsuit that has been pending for several years recently reached a settlement agreement just hours before the case was to be tried in court. According to the lawsuit, the decedent, who was a retired Circuit Court judge, was admitted to a hospital for an infection and was later discharged to a nursing home facility. Antibiotics were administered at the hospital and were supposed to be a part of treatment for four additional weeks at the nursing home facility. However, the lawsuit stated the facility never administered any antibiotics.

The nursing home facility’s chief marketing officer released a written statement regarding the long-awaited settlement. The statement expressed the nursing home was “hopeful the settlement and resolution will be solace to the family.” For more, read the story.
