The National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care recently released that the “senior housing sector –– including independent living and assisted living –– is experiencing its largest drop in occupancy on record,” most likely due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
While independent living communities also recorded their largest increase in inventory in history, it has been connected to effects from the environment and economic status of the previous two years. Assisted living communities fell to 79.1% occupied, while independent living occupancy fell to 84.9%.
