Sexual Assault Among Mentally-Impaired Nursing Home Residents Results in $25,000 Fine

One nursing home facility is facing financial repercussions following an alleged sexual assault at the facility.  According to a report, the suspected sexual assault offender and the victim were both mentally-incompetent residents at the facility.  Following the police investigation, the facility was fined $25,000 for failure to “adequately assess and identify sexual vulnerability and increased risk of resident-to-resident abuse.”

According to the nursing home care plan, the alleged offender was prone to inappropriate sexual advances.  However, it was not made clear whether significant action, if any, were made to prevent an incident such as the assault from occurring.  For more, read the story.
