State Considers Law Allowing Cameras In Nursing Home Rooms

Louisiana lawmakers are considering a bill to allow video cameras in nursing home rooms.

They heard testimony from a woman whose mother experienced mutliple injuries while in a nursing home's care, including a black eye, severe back pain and a compression fracture. The woman had Alzheimer's disease and was not able to explain to her daughter what happened.

“[Cameras] would answer so many questions for the residents, the staffs, the doctors who are literally guessing about what happened,” the woman told the Louisiana House Health and Welfare Committee. “It would render better medical care for people like my mother who could not speak for herself.” For more, read the story.
