State Department Looks To Increase Staffing In Nursing Homes

The department of health in one state is looking to increase certified nursing assistant staffing in its nursing homes. “We have an aging elderly population, includ(ing) those that are being served in our nursing homes, and we want to be able to do the most we can to help those individuals receive the care and services they need, starting with more direct caregivers,” said the state department's administrator. 

The state has 1 in 7 caregiver positions vacant. A campaign to market and recruit, train and test, and engage nursing homes to create strategies that would make the positions more marketable. For more, read the story
