State Health Department Calls Reporting Abuse Overwhelming

One state's health department is struggling to keep up with calls to investigate abuse. The volume of calls increased after the health department campaigned with a hotline to encourage elder care advocates to report instances of abuse or neglect. The abuse has been reported from nursing homes, hospitals, and other health care providers.
