State Officials Discover Deficiencies with Agency Responsbile For Safety of Elderly

The District agency responsible for investigating abuse and neglect allegations of elderly and disabled adults is vowing to improve its operations and better protect the elderly.  The recently released report indicated that Adult Protective Services has been operating without crucial collaboration with other protective entities such as police.

The report noted that APS employees in the state are not required to track client outcomes. Additionally, the department has not filed a legally required annual report since 2008. Ultimately, officials in the state are working for a greater sense of accountability in the department, and improved communication between APS and the police. For more, read the story.
