Reform is underway for the state ranking third worse in nursing home ratings in the nation. Reports show that 1 in 4 nursing homes were cited for abusing patients. As one example of abuse, one citation revealed that a nurse stuffed dirty gloves in a patient’s mouth.
State representatives and nursing home care advocates are working to increase regulations and accountability. “We must do a better job at providing the proper resources and regulations make sure seniors are protected,” said one representative. For more, read the story.
