An independent consultant for Medicaid and Medicare Aid is facing charges for fraud and theft. The consultant worked with family applying for Medicare and Medicaid attempting to reduce assets and qualify for greater aid. The individuals that came to her would transfer their savings accounts into her care to give the appearance of less assets to cover nursing home care.
The consultant told her clients the accounts would be payable upon death to beneficiaries. Instead the woman used the funds for large personal purchases. Some of the purchases included vacations and vehicles. The victims filed lawsuits against her when they could not access their funds. For more, read the story.
