The Boston Globe reports that from April through December 2018, inspectors found deficiencies that caused harm to veterans at 52 of the 99 Veteran Affairs nursing homes they reviewed. In three of the facilities, it was reported that the veteran residents were in “immediate jeopardy.” In another eight nursing homes, the inspectors found veterans both harmed and in jeopardy.
Mr. Curt Cashour, a VA spokesman stated that non-Veteran Affairs homes also have problems. He said that by stating publicly the VA reports for the first time, “we hope to drive improvements throughout the system.”
