Veterans Center Nursing Home Fined for Inadequately Preventing Residents’ Bedsores

One nursing home center especially for veterans’ care has received a fine from its state’s Department of Health. According to an inspection report, an impaired veteran in the facility’s care was left in bed for two days without re-positioning measures. Subsequently, the veteran developed a severe buttocks wound.

The report went on to state the veteran’s catheter was also inadequately cleaned.  As a result of these occurrences, the center faced more than a $15,000 fine. The veterans center responded by stating that staff will undergo a reevaluation of re-positioning patients who may be at high risk of developing pressure ulcers.  For more, read the story.
