A wrongful death complaint against a Veterans Hospital has been settled for $223,000.
The man was admitted to the VA hospital in 2013 at the age of 52, suffering from multiple issues resulting from severe obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes. During the next 3 years, he had many setbacks and formed a pressure ulcer. His surviving wife's lawsuit alleged that the home “[n]egligently and carelessly failing to properly assess the Decedent’s risks for developing pressure ulcers upon admission,” and “negligently and carelessly failing to request medical consultations to address Decedent’s pressure ulcer.” For more, read the story.
