The woman charged with lighting an occupied nursing home bed on fire late last year pleaded guilty Wednesday to a reduced charge of second-degree elderly abuse. She was sentenced to eight years in prison.
According to police, the bed of a 73-year-old resident, a roommate of the suspect’s mother, had been set on fire with the resident asleep in the bed. No resident’s were injured in the fire. Before the fire, the woman had been visiting her mother in the room. The woman initially denied involvement with the fire, but she later confessed to having set the fire. For more, read the story.
